Roppongi is our neighbor—one stop (or a 20-minute walk) from our studio near Tameike-Sanno Station. Guests often build a whole day around it: bento class in the morning, Roppongi in the afternoon. Here’s what our staff actually recommend, from the Art Triangle to quiet gardens most tourists walk right past.
The Art Triangle
Three world-class art destinations within walking distance of each other—this is what Roppongi is famous for.
Mori Art Museum & Tokyo City View
Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, upper floors
Contemporary art on the 53rd floor of Mori Tower, with the Tokyo City View observation deck (52F, open 10:00–22:00) right below it. Seeing blockbuster exhibitions and then the entire city glittering beneath you is the classic Roppongi one-two punch.
The National Art Center, Tokyo
“A museum without a collection”
The undulating glass facade alone is worth the walk. There’s no permanent collection— rotating exhibitions fill one of Japan’s largest exhibition spaces, and entering the building itself is free, so even a 20-minute architecture stop is worthwhile.
teamLab Borderless (Azabudai Hills)
A 10–15 min walk from Roppongi Crossing
The “museum without a map” where artworks flow from room to room. It sits inside Azabudai Hills, the striking new district on Roppongi’s edge—leave time to wander the complex, too. Tickets are timed and sell out; book online before your trip.

Roppongi Hills
The mini-city around Mori Tower: shops, restaurants, a cinema, and the famous giant spider sculpture “Maman” at its base—Roppongi’s default meeting point.
Mohri Garden & Midtown Lawn
A real Edo-style pond garden hides behind Roppongi Hills, and Tokyo Midtown’s lawn is one of the area’s best picnic spots—both are covered in our Picnic Spots guide.
Roppongi’s Club & Bar Scene
Once the sun sets, Roppongi becomes one of Tokyo’s liveliest nightlife districts—clubs, live music bars, and rooftop lounges packed into a few blocks. Most venues ask for photo ID at the door (a passport works for visitors) and have a minimum age of 20; dress smart-casual, since sandals are often turned away. One local tip: booking a table or guest-list spot online in advance makes getting in quick and easy.
Roppongi Hills Summer Festival
Every August, Roppongi Hills Arena fills with food stalls, yukata-clad crowds, and live performances for its open-air summer festival—a fun, family-friendly way to spend a warm Tokyo evening right where the Art Triangle is.
